Here you may either chose to wander through 15 acres of solitude right from the doorstep of your Adirondack Camp or experience one of the surrounding area trails located within minutes of Back To Basics.  The choice is yours.

We have included some of the area trails off premises, but do have more recommendations if you care to venture elsewear for the day, please do not hesitate to ask Kim for additional snowshoeing trails during your stay.

Broomstick Lake

(1.4 miles, RT, easy)  Broomstick Lake is a little lake that contains colorful rose quartz.   Broomstick Lake was also used in the 1936 filming of the original "The Last of the Mohicans".

Chase Lake

(5 miles RT).   Snowshoers have a good method to explore Chase Lake, which is not very accessible, it is however also a marked snowmobile trail.

Dry and Dexter Lakes

(5.8 miles, RT, easy to moderate)  This is an attractive walk on and old road through open forests.  The terrain is relatively flat, but does contain some moderate ups and downs.  Dry and Dexter Lakes are small and relatively isolated.

Glasgow Mills and Hillabrandt Lake and Vlei

(6.6 miles, RT)  An interesting and beautiful winter trek.  Is popular among smowmobiles due to the numerous connecting destinations.

Good Luck Lake - Good Luck Cliffs

(5.8 miles RT, easy)  A level walk on a marked trail.

Jockeybush Lake

(2 miles RT, easy) Two fairly steep grades.  Good snow cover is necessary, as well as adequate cold to freeze the outlet stream.

Stewart and Indian Lakes

(4.6 miles, RT).  This trailed is marked trail.  You can explore and gain access to the lakes with little difficulty.  It is somewhat of a challenge because of the relentless climbing.

Third & Fourth Lake

(6.8 miles, RT)  The snowshoer will need energy to climb Roosters Hill's knolls and then a long, steeper shoulder of West Lake Mt.
