MOUNTAIN BIKE TRAILS IN THE
SOUTHERN ADIRONDACK MOUNTAINS
Back To Basics currently does not provide mountain bike rentals, but are currently looking into it for your next vacation pleasure. We do however, have extensive mountain bike trails and routes for your access. Some of the trail systems are private and do require a nominal fee others are provided by the State of New York.
Arctic Circle Ski Center - The Arctic Ski Center can provide you with an extensive mountain bike trail system for all your riding needs. Al is located adjacent to Back To Basics property. Bike right from your cabin or yurt and access the mountain bike trail routes right from your door.
Mountain Bike Trail Fee $5.00/day
Chase Lake - This trail also a snowmobile trail lies east of Caroga Lake region and is reasonably narrow but excellent for hiking or riding.
New York State Trail - Free
Dexter Lake - provides three trails to Dexter Lake, but the two trails from the east and west are on a side slope and beautifully bench cut, the third access is very wet. The east and west do provide an excellent trail system for either hiking or biking.

Good Luck Lake - We at Back To Basics have heard this is a very good mountain bike trail route, but have not yet checked this trail out. We will update you as soon as we can give you current information on the bike trail conditions.

Lapland Lake - Does provide Mountain Biking on their cross-country ski trails, but we have not found the actual data to provide you with as of yet. We will let you know as soon as we know.

Powley-Piseco Road - Back To Basics can provide you with a great mountain biking experience here. Powley-Piseco Road is a seasonal road that goes on for miles with a lot of off sites for you to explore. Back To Basics will offer our guests free car shuttle to the Stratford end of the road for their mountain biking needs.
Shrine Road - We are located adjacent to Shrine Road your mountain biking pleasure. Shrine road can be accessed directly across the street from Adirondack Wilderness Adventures.

Stewart Landing - Stewart Landing is a loop west of Caroga Lake that does contain is a rocky adventure, but during most seasons of the year does present wet.

We came across two Mountain Bikers in the Shaker Mountain Wild Forest out for a day of bike riding adventure. We asked if it was ok to take their photo, but forgot to ask them their names for the website. If anyone knows who the mystery riders are we would appreciate a name and email so we can send them the page link.
