OUTDOOR ADVENTURE CLASSES AND EXCURSIONS
We realize that not everyone's schedule can meet an outdoor education course itinerary. So we purpose individual specialized classes based on your outdoor needs. These Wilderness Adventure Classes and Excursions are designed for what you require in the outdoors while also meeting your busy schedules.
ANIMAL TRACKS - this course is designed to familiarize you with our Adirondack wildlife friends. We will focus on animal signs, tracking, and habitats of the area wildlife. Inclusive of turkey, deer, bear, bird, squirrel, and also differentiate our pet friends and human friends.

ORIENTEERING - this course will familiarize you with the basic fundamentals of orienteering in the wilderness.

TRIP PLANNING - this course will emphasize basic gear needed during your trip planning for a day hike or an overnight excursion. Along with planning your day and weekend adventure trips.

ADVANCED TRIP PLANNING - this class will focus on trip planning for long distance hikes and thru hikes. We will be covering map details, mileage, water locals, emergency outs, resupplies, camping and shelter options, weather, guidebook review, and additional services needed during your journey.

SHELTERS - this class with focus on the techniques of choosing a campsite, types of shelters, and natural shelter techniques in emergency situations.

FIRST AID - this course will not certify you in first aid, but will offer you wilderness first aid techniques, signs and symptoms, and emergency procedures in a what-do-I-do situation. We will focus on multiple topics including: hypothermia, fractures, heat stroke, bites, blisters, burns, frostbite, shock, dehydration, and managing difficult patients.

COMPASS AND MAP READING - during your navigation class we will discuss orienteering, map reading, using a compass, and finding your way without a compass.

WATER AND SANITATION - this course will allow you to gain knowledge in water sources, purification, sanitation techniques for hygiene, cooking sanitation, and when nature calls.

GEAR SELECTIONS AND PROPER BACKPACK PACKING
During this class we will discuss gear selections of tents, sleeping bags, stoves, and internal/external backpacks. We will tell you pros and cons to your outdoor gear. Proper backpack packing will be addressed.

FIRE SKILLS AND COOKING - the course outline for fire skills will be inclusive of fire site preparation, fire types, building a fire, and the burning properties of wood. Cooking will address cooking gear, one-pot dishes, and tricks of the trade.

![]() SAFETY - safety issues are very important in a wilderness setting. It could be you key to survival. We will be addressing; your safety, stream crossing, animal safety, bear-bag techniques, and gear safety.

DRESSING FOR THE OUTDOORS AND WEATHER - dressing for the outdoors is a fundamental that all who venture out into the wilderness must be properly prepared for. We will cover proper outdoor clothing selections, protection from the elements, dressing in layers, and proper footwear.

WINTER CAMPING TECHNIQUES - We will be presenting the winter camping techniques. We will be covering dressing for the weather, safety, winter fire techniques, and shelters.
